Courageous Canines
I know a thing or two about loyalty, hard work and the incredible things women have achieved. That goes for pups too. At BD&E, my job is simple: greet visitors, boost morale and share my toys with Pearl. To honor Women’s History Month, I salute two remarkable fellow female pups: Roselle and Bretagne.
On September 11, 2001, Roselle guided her blind owner down 78 flights of stairs in the North Tower, through smoke and chaos, leading him to safety 40 blocks away. Bretagne, a search-and-rescue Golden Retriever, tirelessly searched the rubble for survivors, and offered comfort to first responders.
I can’t perform guide or rescue, but I do know that dogs like Roselle and Bretagne showed the world what courage and love look like, and that inspires me. Many incredible women in history go unrecognized. Take a moment this month to learn about one—you never know how much their impact still shapes our world today.
